- Stop using the door. One cable gone means the rest of the system is overloaded.
- Do not park under it and keep everyone out of the garage.
- Do not disconnect the opener. With a cable gone, the door can drop.
How you know it is a cable
- One side of the door sits lower than the other, or it looks tilted in the opening.
- You can see loose or frayed wire hanging down beside the track.
- There is a cable coiled off its drum up near the ceiling instead of wound neatly.
- The door jerks or shudders on the way up instead of moving smoothly.
Why cables and springs usually get talked about together
They are one system. The spring takes the weight, the cable transfers it to the door. When a spring breaks it often takes a cable with it, and a frayed cable is usually a sign the rest of the hardware has some age on it. We will look at all of it and tell you what actually needs doing rather than replacing everything by default.
The price comes first.
You have probably heard the stories. Somebody advertises a $39 spring, shows up, and an hour later the bill is nine hundred dollars. That is not how this works here.
We look at the door, we tell you what is wrong, and you get the price before any repair starts. If the price does not work for you, we pack up and leave.
And if we find something after the work starts that changes the job or the price, we stop, show you what changed, and get your okay before we do anything more.

Can I just push the door back level?
Please do not. The remaining cable and the springs are still under tension, and that is how people get hurt.
Do both cables get replaced?
Usually yes. They are the same age and have done the same number of cycles, so changing one and leaving the other tends to mean a second visit.
Is it safe to leave the door open until you get here?
Leaving it still is safer than operating it. If the garage being open is a problem, say so when you call and we will talk through how to secure it.
