Before you pay anyone: check the wall button and check that the opener is still plugged in. Sometimes it really is the outlet. If that is not it, openers fail in a few predictable ways and plenty of them are a repair, not a replacement — and we will tell you which one you have, including when it is not worth fixing.

What is usually wrong
- Motor hums, nothing moves. Often a stripped gear inside the opener. Common, and often repairable.
- Remote works sometimes. Battery, then the antenna wire, then the logic board — in that order, cheapest first.
- Nothing works at all. Check the wall button and the outlet first. Sometimes it really is the outlet.
- It runs loud enough to wake the house. Old chain drives do that. A belt drive is genuinely quieter, and that upgrade is worth it if the bedroom is over the garage.
- Keypad stopped working. Usually the code or the battery, occasionally the receiver.
Repair or replace?
Here is the plain version. If the opener is fifteen years old and the repair costs a meaningful share of a new one, replacing it is the better buy — new ones are quieter, they have proper safety reversal, and most connect to your phone so you can see whether you left it open.
If it is newer and one cheap part failed, fix it. We are not going to sell you a new opener because your old one had a gear go. We will show you the part and tell you what each way costs.
The price comes first.
You have probably heard the stories. Somebody advertises a $39 spring, shows up, and an hour later the bill is nine hundred dollars. That is not how this works here.
We look at the door, we tell you what is wrong, and you get the price before any repair starts. If the price does not work for you, we pack up and leave.
And if we find something after the work starts that changes the job or the price, we stop, show you what changed, and get your okay before we do anything more.

Questions people actually ask
How long should an opener last?
It depends on how much the door is used and how well the door itself is balanced. A worn out door makes the opener work harder and shortens its life, which is why we look at the whole system rather than only the motor.
Can you make my opener work with my phone?
Most current openers connect to a phone app. If yours does not, there are add on modules for some models. We will tell you which applies to the unit you actually have.
My remote works but the wall button does not.
Usually the low voltage wire to the wall button or the button itself. It is a small repair.
